Satori Technology
Satori is developing novel disease modifying therapies that target the underlying neurotoxic mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
Our current focus is on targeting the pathways that cause neuronal toxicity and lead to disease progression.
Satori’s proprietary technologies are directed towards discrete steps in the neurotoxic cascade.
Neurodegeneration and Alzheimer's Disease
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease are among the greatest unmet medical needs. Current treatments for these diseases, when available, address symptoms without effectively treating the underlying causes and promoters of disease. Ongoing research has provided increasingly clearer guidance on how to, for the first time, discover and develop truly disease-modifying therapeutics for these diseases.
In Alzheimer's disease, protein misfolding results in a cascade of events that includes the formation of the pathological "senile plaques" that are the singular hallmark characteristic of this disease. Human genetics, animal studies, protein biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, and recent clinical studies consistently point to specific cellular processes that produce pro-toxic proteins that misfold and cause cellular dysfunction. Satori is developing drugs that target these disease-specific processes to limit the production of toxic proteins and block their pathological effects on brain function.
